This month our program will feature the 200th running of the Cowes Week Regatta from England. This event was first held in August of 1826 on the Solent from the town of Cowes on the Isle of Wight. This makes it the longest running regular sailing regatta in the world. This year's event, held August 1st thru 7th featured over 600 boats in 36 classes ranging from classic wooden vessels to state of the art grand prix racing boats and crewed by over 5000 competitors. More than 60,000 spectators enjoyed the shore side festivities including live music, waterside events, and a fireworks display at the end. Of course we'll also have updates on the club's racing and social activities. Should be a fun meeting. See you there.
PARKING REMINDER
Last time I checked the front parking lot was still fenced off so we'll still be using the alternate lot. Hopefully the regular lot will be available soon. It appears almost finished.
